Gail Cochrane

Gail Cochrane was born in Turin, where she lives and works. Since 2017 she works for the DAD, Department Architecture and Design, of the Politecnico di Torino, for the planning of the II Level Master in Design for Arts. Since 2004 through 2015 she served as artistic director for the Fondazione Spinola Banna per l’Arte, based in Poirino. (Torino) The main activity of the Foundation was the implementation of a post-university training programme on contemporary art, offering residencies to Italian young artists, under the guidance of artists of international standing as visiting professors as: Stefano Arienti Alberto Garutti, Tobias Rehberger, Rirkrit Tiravanija, Jason Dodge and Raimundas Malausaskas among the many. From 2002 to 2008 she curated the Tiscali Campus Art project in Cagliari, a public art project hosting five site specific works by international recognized artists as Olafur Eliasson, Alberto Garutti, Maria Lai ,Michelangelo Pistoletto, and Grazia Toderi. From 1999 to 2008 she served as curator for the Fondazione Teseco per l’Arte in Pisa and the Corporate Art Collection hosted at the Teseco Ltd headquarters in Pisa. From 1992 to 1996 she curated the Sandretto Re Rebaudengo Collection in Turin, and until 1996 she was part of the Scientific Committee of the Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo per l’Arte as well as the organising committee of the Campo 6 project in Turin.
